When the battle intensified against Saul, the archers hit him, so he was severely wounded by the archers. Then Saul said to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and thrust me through with it, or else these uncircumcised will come and thrust me through after torturing me.” But his armor-bearer refused, for he was too afraid. So Saul took the sword and fell on it. When his armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he likewise fell on his sword and died with him.
